I Love Mondays!
Since Sundays are a different kind of day from the rest of the week for me, (I'm not cleaning or shopping or doing laundry), I sometimes feel like I'm playing catch up when Monday rolls around. I prepare my "to do" list on Sunday evenings so that when Monday is here, I'm ready to start the week. I always feel an added spring in my step--the weekend tends to rejuvenate me.
With that being said, you can imagine how excited I was for this particular Monday! We just came off of a nice long holiday. Brian has been home since last Wednesday and has been a tremedous help to me. He's been taking the lead on baths for the kids, folding laundry, helping me organize the attic, helping me with blog questions...you get the idea. When he's home for an extended period of time, I always feel like he "gets"me and is in my corner in regards to what I have to deal with on a daily basis. When he comes home from work, he's always a little distracted. We've both been in different places that day, so sometimes we don't connect like I wish we could.
Although I was excited to get my Monday started, I felt a little sad as I was saying goodbye to him this morning because I knew that the daily "grind" was starting again.
My goal is not to look at it as the "grind"--
My outlook today is bright...I feel refreshed, invigorated, excited to be starting a new year...a new week...a new day!
When I was making lunch today, I thought about how my attitude makes all the difference in how things go in my day...in my children's ...and even in Brian's. I need to keep reminding myself about how I set the tone in our home.
As I was making lunch today...there wasn't much different in what or how I was making it, but how I felt while making it...Who wouldn't want a smiley faced peanut butter sandwich?! (Except maybe Brian, cause he hates peanut butter but won't admit it)
So there you have it...A secret confession...a resolve to have a better attitude with even the little things...and a smile to go along with it.
Happy Monday!
**Do you like Mondays?
**Do you think I'm corny for doing that thing with the sandwich?
no, and yes. Usually , I don't enjoy mondays, and you are corny for doing the smiley face. Then again, you DO have a history of making sandwiches show their true emotions. (see my monday post.)

I think the smiley peanut butter sandwich is very cute and oh so happy looking.
ReplyDeleteI do like Mondays because I usually like to get back to our regular routine and have the house to myself again (the benefit of having both kids in school all day). Though today was a bit rough since we've had such an enjoyable Christmas break with lots of sleeping in, reading and movie going. I was not happy to have to make sure the kids were ready and out the door and then get myself to a presidency meeting by 9:15am. Ugh.
I'm Ok with Mondays. My least favorite day of the week is Thursday, currently. Mondays are OK because they are the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI think that the smiley face in the sandwich was silly and also fine. We can't be serious all the time. What boring lives we would have. And you ate it, right? Why not make a smiley in the peanut butter?
I have a confession. I hate mondays. I wish the weekend included mondays. I'm glad you feel so refreshed with the new year!!
ReplyDeletei don't mind mondays- but can you believe it- ? i'm still in my robe and it's after 12:00 yikes- i started cleaning downstairs and ended up in my spice cupboard- what is that all about? think i'll write an entry about this - it's just too strange- check it out- oh, by the way- i love your new outlook- it's so upbeat- nice job!
