Five for Friday

1. I've been trying to come up with a name for my business and thought I had decided on Bloom. I wasn't ever completely in love with it, sounded too formal and I liked the idea of having a play on words...
My friend Rob Merrill (Heather's husband) came up with the perfect name the other day that I simply could not refuse.

Shannon's Bloomers it is!
My friend Kelly Farrington was kind enough to design a business card for me and I couldn't be more excited!

2. Observe the master at work a our ward's recent Memorial Day picnic!
Susan has been telling me about this awesome grilled romaine she had at a restaurant recently...
Who knew lettuce could reach such delectable heights!!!

3. The chicks went outside for the first time today. They are supposed to be under the heat lamp for another few weeks, but I thought a little fresh air in the sun wouldn't hurt them for a little while...They weren't sure what to do when I put the basket down on the grass...
It was so funny to see their little heads cocked with curiosity...

4. My mom's recent visit stirred up some serious competition in the way of pick up sticks...

The stakes were high!
$5.00 was the grand prize!
This was the official score board...

I may look like I'm concentrating on my next pick up stick move but I'm really thinking about all the things I needed to be doing during the crazy week I was having!

5. I wish this didn't bother me so much...(look closely at the front door)
When was Christmas, again?
Holy laziness!
P.S. This is not my house

  1. The business card and name are darling! I'm so excited for you to do this, you're a natural!

I've never heard of grilled romaine before, but of course if Susan made it I'm sure it's wonderful.

Can you believe I have no memory of ever having played pick-up-sticks?! How is this possible?

I hear you on the Christmas decorations still up. I've also been having a problem with the people (including my next door neighbors) who have fake flowers in their front yards...what in the world??!

  2. The chicks are adorable!

I remember playing pick-up-sticks as a kid. I really enjoyed that game. I think it would still be fun to play!

OK, I think it is hillarious that you took a picture of someone else's house! That is just too too funny. (Although, I do like to take my Christmas stuff down by January 1st at LEAST).

  3. i really enjoyed the random-ness of this post. the card is adorable!

  4. Catching up proved a delight!

  7. Wow, your mom is so young. God bless her. And how cute does susan look with her shades, stylish even with a mayo jar. Hee Hee. lee

  9. I have a solution for number 5. You need to go over to their house every day with the family and go caroling. Here's some carols you can sing for them. I am sure you can create some more.... ahem..

We long since decked the halls with holly
Fa La La La La La La La La
Christmas lights right now ain't jolly
Fa La La La La La La La La
Come on out, get off your keister
Fa La La La La La La La La
We don't want them up at Easter
Fa La La La La La La La La

Your Christmas tree, your Christmas tree
    Your Christmas tree's quite famous
Your Christmas tree, your Christmas tree
Your Christmas tree will now shame us
    Every night, don't you know
Your neighbors have a comedic show
Please take down your Christmas tree
    You're an ignoramous

    Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
Oh wait, there IS no snow
    Because its friggen may
Your stick you call a tree
    The green it has expired
The ornaments are on the floor
Why has it not caught fire
Your Christmas gear, was up last year
When will you get a clue?
You're mowing 'round your Santa Claus and his fallen caribou-EW
You're Christmas cheer, all friggin year
    Has really been innane
So pack your bags and yuletide swag
    Three cheers for eminent domain

    That's all I got :)
