Other than having a horrible case of poison ivy, (first time ever, by the way, in my entire life), the day was delightful... (well, sort of)
P.S. Is there such a thing as an itching orgasm? You know what I mean, right?-- when it feels so darn good to scratch that you almost go out of your mind. I've had several of those lately.
We went with the Atkinsons to Solebury Orchards...
Look at the size of this guy! I can't even get my whole hand around it's girth...
We said our goodbyes, and headed home for a laid back Friday night...
Brian and I were relaxing in the living room while the kids played with the neighbors when all of a sudden, I started feeling pulling pains in my lower abdomen and then sharp stabbing pains on my right side...
I thought that it might be a side effect from the prednisone that I had started taking for the poison ivy...
The pain continued to increase until I had no choice but to have Brian take me into the emergency room...
Fortunately, my neighbor, Michelle, was able to come stay with the kids...
I'm talking NOT EVEN WITH LABOR!!!!
I seriously thought I was going to die! I started saying my goodbyes to Brian, and crazy talking from the morphine drip. I'm sure I gave those nurses a lot of good material to discuss...
After a cat scan, the mystery was solved!
I had a kidney stone and it was almost ready to come out...
At 1:15am, we finally left the hospital, (still vomitting I might add), but thankfully, homeward bound. After I got home, Brian spent the next hour and a half searching for an all night pharmacy.
And then, the next morning, this little *&%$# was delivered...(the dark one) caught in a strainer...
weighing less than a gram...
We're naming him either "Stony" or "Bastard"...
I decided to compare it in size to a mustard seed and a grain of rice...
It's almost the same size as a mustard seed...
I can't believe that something so small could bring on so much pain...
And there you have it...
One more thing to chalk up on my list of things I've done in my life...
P.S. I could have done without this one!
***Can you empathize or sympathize with my kidney stone?
TMI Miss Shannon. Yikes you poor thing. Just reading it I got sympathy pains I'm so sorry. Hope you are well today.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, Poison Ivy AND a kidney stone, that's grim!! You're cracking me up though with "itching orgasm" and naming your kidney stone "bastard".
ReplyDeleteI wish Brian had video taped you saying your goodbyes and talking gibberish, that would have been hilarious.
I hope you're better and feeling great now!
please add it to the so called "misadventures of a duck-ma" -the stories you have are always unbelievable as they are entertaining, definitely book worthy. glad you are in one piece. thanks for reminding us that a normal weekend is a gift.
ReplyDeleteThe poison ivy--had plenty of that, but not a kidney stone--but the way I drink Diet Coke, I can believe one is in the future!
ReplyDeletethis is so bad!
ReplyDeleteI DO sympathize & I can fEEL your pain.
I've had SIX
kindney stones... YOU are right-
PAIN oh the PAIN
Mine were all pregnancy induced.
Except the last one...
some people are just stone makers- no matter what they do. I drink gallons of water & only one 12 oz diet coke a day (somedays more but usually just the one can)
I hope you never experience this again!
My son Brian got poison ivy last summer & had to take two doses of the steriods because the damn doctor didn't tell him to slowly go off the steroids! It came right back.
by the way-
wowowowwwwoooo on the apples!!
When you were in the E.R. were you singing" Shakkakan"? Just curious. I am so sorry you went through that but at leas it is out of your system in time for your trip.
ReplyDeleteoh man, i can definitely feel your pain, and i agree with you - worse than labor. but the only thing worse than me having a kidney stone, was my husband having a kidney stone. i thought i was going to murder him he was such a baby. i definitely vote for the name "bastard", that made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteand seriously, an itching orgasm? i totally agree! i've never had poison ivy, but i have really bad allergies and my inner ear itches so bad that stick my finger in there and wiggle it as fast as i can up and down. sometimes it feels so good, i think i might never be able to stop. my husband loves to tease me about this - from now i'm going to tell him that i was having an itching orgasm. he will LOVE that i'm sure. :)
sorry for your illness! but thanks for the laughs!
Oh totally feel your pain!!!! I have a few kidney stones myself and they are NASTY!!!! It is amazing to me how one little tiny thing can cause so much pain. I had to have one of mine removed because it was too big to pass and one I had to have blasted apart. Kidney stones are just plain evil!!!
ReplyDeleteThe apples look awesome! We still have a few weeks before our apples are on!
My Dad, who tries to ignore any discomfort, actually asked to be taken to the hospital while passing a kidney stone. Unfortunately for him, he pretty much already was done by the time he got there. I hope to never experience anything like it! I've heard they are unbelievably painful.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! There are too many hilarious parts of this post (!) and sad parts, all together! You are too funny---itching orgasm! I will say that it is very descriptive, however, and yes, I have felt that way (especially regarding my feet at the end of a very long day in heels!).
ReplyDeleteHope you are on the mend and that BES is on your radar...how does Saturday work?! REally...
Call me.
